Susquehanna Valley Ethical Society is a congregational humanist organization. We are guided by the best human thinking in the areas of ethics, science, and well-being. Individuals of all beliefs or non-beliefs, are provided a warm and welcoming environment for belonging, for learning, and for practicing humanist-living, seeking ways for being together to make humanist-life possible and enjoyable. We support and respect personal autonomy and diverse perspectives.

Sunday Coffee Hour
Day: Sunday
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Community Zone (unless otherwise noted)
What to Bring: Yourself! (Optional: a snack to share)
We believe in creating a space where everyone feels comfortable and respected. Our Coffee Hour is a place to share ideas, listen to different perspectives, and build a stronger humanist community. We strive to be inclusive of all backgrounds, beliefs, and identities.
We'd love for you to join us for our Sunday Coffee Hour. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in a relaxed and informal setting. Think of it as a warm hug on a Sunday morning (with coffee!).
What to Expect
No agenda: Just free-flowing conversation. We chat about everything and nothing – from current events to personal interests, philosophical ponderings to weekend plans.
Great company: Meet fellow humanists, share stories, and build connections with people who value reason, empathy, and community.
Coffee (and more!): We'll have coffee, tea, and some light refreshments available. Feel free to bring something to share, but most importantly, bring yourself!
A welcoming atmosphere: Newcomers are always welcome! Don't hesitate to join us, even if you're a little shy. We're a friendly bunch, and we're always happy to meet new people.
Come ready to chat, laugh, and connect! We look forward to seeing you there.
For any questions, feel free to reach out to Pattie at [email protected]. We're excited to connect with you and build a vibrant, welcoming community together.

Wednesday Humanist Discussion Series
This series gives members space to explore ideas, learn from one another, and connect over shared curiosity. It consistently sparks great discussions and deepens relationships within the group.
This is a discussion-based event where someone presents a topic—philosophical, ethical, social, or current-events-related—and then opens the floor for group conversation. It’s informal, engaging, and a great way to explore big ideas through a humanist lens with others who enjoy thoughtful dialogue. Some of these exchanges are based on controversial topics, while others offer participants a chance to explore personal ethical dilemmas and seek encouragement, advice and/or resources.
Join us for a thoughtful, humanist-led discussions! We kick off with a short overview and then open the floor for respectful conversation. All are welcome!
