What to Expect

Susquehanna Valley Ethical Society is a congregational humanist organization. We are guided by the best human thinking in the areas of ethics, science, and well-being. Individuals of all beliefs or non-beliefs, are provided a warm and welcoming environment for belonging, for learning, and for practicing humanist-living, seeking ways for being together to make humanist-life possible and enjoyable. We support and respect personal autonomy and diverse perspectives.

How do we do this?
Welcome to Humanists Living Life Ethically
Humanists Living Life Ethically is a welcoming group within the Susquehanna Valley Ethical Society (SVES), created for people who want to explore what it means to live with intention and integrity. Together, we reflect on humanist values and ethical living in a supportive community where everyone can learn, share, and grow.

🤝 About Our Group
Our purpose is to bring together people who want to live ethically, guided by humanist principles and a commitment to the well-being of others. We emphasize reason, compassion, and human dignity as practical guides for everyday choices and long-term commitments.
This group is a space for thoughtful discussion, honest questions, and respectful dialogue across different experiences and viewpoints. We also aim to offer mutual support as we put our values into practice—at home, at work, and in our wider community.

💡 What We Explore
  • Ethical decision-making — navigating everyday choices with clarity and care
  • Meaningful connection — building relationships and community that help us thrive
  • Social justice & human rights — aligning our values with action and solidarity
  • Environmental responsibility — living with respect for our shared home and future generations
  • Personal growth & well-being — cultivating resilience, purpose, and healthy habits
  • Life’s big questions — exploring secular, human-centered approaches to meaning, loss, and hope

All perspectives welcome! Whether you’re new to humanism or have been practicing ethical living for years, you’ll find a welcoming community here. We value curiosity, kindness, and respectful conversation.

✨ What to Expect
Meetings often include thoughtful group discussions, occasional guest speakers, and video, book or article conversations that help us connect ideas to real life. We also look for opportunities to support SVES and the wider community through service and shared projects. Above all, we aim for a collaborative, respectful atmosphere where everyone has room to participate at their own pace.

🌱 Join Us
You’re warmly invited to attend a meeting—there are no prerequisites and no expectation to have all the answers. Just bring your curiosity, your openness, and your willingness to listen and share. Everyone is welcome, regardless of background or beliefs.

We look forward to exploring ethical living together with you!
