Our mission
To educate, advocate, and direct our action to build a culture of peace.

Direct Action
To promote widespread human flourishing, Susquehanna Valley Ethical Humanists organize projects to benefit others in our community.
The Valley's ethical action efforts include social justice, environmental action, food insecurity, and homelessness.

We also have projects that encourage children to
develop their own moral and ethical compass, and children are welcomed to join members for community service.

The SVES Ethical Action Committee approved this statement expressing our Humanist position to stand with all transgender people.

STATEMENT:
The Susquehanna Valley Ethical Humanist Community stands against assaults on the dignity and worth of all transgender people. We affirm the right of all humans to live in alignment with their true selves, and we stand with our members, friends, and relatives who are trans and non-binary.
We believe that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and kindly. Within our own congregation, we reaffirm our commitment to honoring all members’ and visitors’ chosen names and pronouns, respecting their right to use whichever bathroom they feel most comfortable using, and providing further education for our community on gender diversity.
We also call on all our elected officials, from our local school boards to our Federal representatives, to stand up for their transgender constituents and their rights to access medical care, play sports, serve in the military, use the bathroom, travel, work, and otherwise live their lives in peace.
